The Warsaw Community School Board has approved the hiring of Jonathan Hoover as head coach of the WCHS girls soccer team. Hoover was approved Wednesday by a 5-0 vote and replaces Peter Lucht, who resigned. Lucht led the Lady Tigers to a 16-5 overall record and 6-1 mark in the Northern Lakes Conference this past season. Hoover has worked in the coaching field as the lead assistant of the Grace College women’s team since 2008. He was the head coach at Lakeland Christian Academy prior to his position with the Lady Lancers. In addition to his coaching history, Hoover has worked with students as a physical education and health teacher at Edgewood Middle School since 2008. Prior to his time at Edgewood, Hoover worked as the youth and family director for the Kosciusko County YMCA. Hoover played soccer at Grace College from 1997-2001 and was a three-time all-conference second-team selection. He was captain of the Lancers three times. Hoover went on to be a goalkeeper for an FC Indiana side that won the U.S. Open Cup state championship. He was also a standout on the track and field team, graduating with school records in the 55-meter dash, indoor high jump, javelin and 4x100 relay.
