Lady Tiger Soccer Plays To A Draw At Culver Academies

CULVER – Warsaw never trailed, but gave up a game-tying goal with eight minutes remaining and settled for a 2-2 non-conference girls soccer draw at Culver Academies Wednesday.

The Lady Tigers led 1-0 at halftime after a Delaney Taylor goal. The Lady Eagles tied the game on a rebounded penalty kick when the ball bounced away from Warsaw goalie Chloe Snow after a great save.

Abby Steffensmeier scored for Warsaw with 13 minutes remaining.

“Tonight was a frustrating night for our team,” Lady Tiger coach Jon Hoover said. “We were a very undisciplined team tonight, and we ran into a motivated Culver squad.

“We played well in stretches, but we did not do the little things well, and in the end it cost us a win. I give a lot of credit to Culver and their coaching staff.  This was one of their first games to have their entire roster healthy and available, and they were firing on all cylinders.

“We are moving on. A win at Wawasee Saturday would likely set up a conference championship with Northridge next Thursday, so we are putting our energy into preparing for Wawasee.”

In the junior varsity game, Jacie Nier scored for Warsaw in its 2-1 loss to the Lady Eagles. Goalkeeper Katie Dailey stopped a penalty shot for the Lady Tigers.

Warsaw now holds an 8-4-2 record. Kickoff for Saturday’s game at Warrior Field in Syracuse is 11:45 a.m.
