Lakeland Christian Girls Soccer Rolls To Rout Over Peru
WINONA LAKE – Jess Slone scored for Lakeland Christian in the second minute of the match, and Anna Reimink scored twice in the first 26 minutes to lead the Lady Cougars to a 6-0 soccer win over Peru Saturday.
Lauren Starrett and Avery Hobbs each scored before halftime for the Lady Cougars, and Nathaly Zapata added a goal in the final minute of the match.
“It was an all-around great effort by the whole team. The subs came in to give the starters a rest and we didn't miss a beat,” LCA coach Nat Raber said. “The team is definitely improving as the season goes on, which is great to see.
“The defense played great, controlling balls and clearing them out, only giving up three shots that were from distance.”
Now 3-4, Lakeland Christian will hit the road to take on Fort Wayne Fusion Tuesday evening.
Cougars Roll To Win
WINONA LAKE – Garrett McCoomb and Parker Stewart had two goals and an assist each, leading Lakeland Christian to a 6-1 boys soccer win over visiting Granger Christian Saturday.
Luke Miller and Jeremy Gross also scored for the Cougars, with Josh Turner credited with an assist in the match.
Next up for Lakeland Christian (5-7) is a home match with Manchester Tuesday evening.
Tigers Edged By Blazers
Elkhart Central scored on a free kick in the 62nd minute, giving the Blazers a 1-0 non-conference boys soccer win over Warsaw Saturday.
Warsaw will take an 8-4-2 record into its Northern Lakes Conference home match with Goshen Thursday.
Warriors Play To Draw With Knights
EAST NOBLE – Ryan Edington scored the first and third goals for Wawasee, with Eric Yankosky adding a goal in between in the Warriors’ 3-3 non-conference boys soccer draw at East Noble Saturday.
Edington’s first goal was assisted by Chris Pena. Edington’s second goal was off a penalty kick.
“This is a very disappointing tie,” Wawasee coach Jordan Sharp said. “We gave up the lead too many times.
“They equalized on us while being a man down due to a red card.”
Wawasee (4-3-3) will host Goshen in Northern Lakes Conference play Tuesday night.
Whitko Blanked In Conference Play
DENVER – Senior Stephanie Baughman had 15 saves for Whitko in its 6-0 Three Rivers Conference loss at North Miami Saturday.
The Lady Wildcats (1-12) will host Eastbrook in a non-conference match Wednesday.
