Tigers Beat Luers In Carroll Tournament Game

HUNTERTOWN – Despite giving up an early goal, Warsaw won 5-3 over Fort Wayne Bishop Luers in the opening round of the Carroll Invitational boys soccer tournament Thursday.

Eric Ocock tied the match with a goal off a pass from Jose Sanchez. The Tigers took the lead when Cole Voss scored off a feed from Blake Burns.

Burns got Warsaw’s third goal off a pass from Sanchez, and Voss scored a second time to make it 4-1. After Luers cut the lead to one, Ocock converted a penalty kick for the final margin.

Warsaw (4-3-1) will take on the winner between Fort Wayne North and Homestead for the tourney title at 11 a.m. Saturday.



Squires Trip Eagles

COLUMBIA CITY – Nathan Self scored on a penalty kick, and Harley Kruschwitz scored the go-ahead goal in Manchester’s 3-1 boys soccer win over Columbia City Thursday night.

Caleb Stout scored off a feed from Self with three minutes remaining to seal the non-conference win.

Manchester (7-1) will play at Eastbrook on Thursday.



Lady Squires Blanked

NORTH MANCHESTER – Huntington North claimed a 4-0 non-conference girls soccer win at Manchester Thursday evening.

Kiera Stacy was credited with 18 saves in the match for the Lady Squires.

The Lady Squires will play in a doubleheader with the boys team at Eastbrook on Thursday.



Cougars Shut Out

WINONA LAKE – Visiting Argos scored three first-half goals, enough to beat Lakeland Christian 3-0 in a Northern Indiana Soccer Conference boys game Thursday.

The Cougars (2-4, 0-2 NISC) will play at Elkhart Christian Tuesday.



Lady ‘Cats Fall

WATERFORD MILLS – Bethany Christian scored four goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 non-conference win over Whitko in girls soccer Thursday.

Whitko plays another non-conference match Saturday at Mississinewa.
