Lady Tigers Enjoy Big Second Half In Win Over Snider

FORT WAYNE – Warsaw scored seven goals in the second half to roll to a 9-1 non-conference girls soccer win over host Fort Wayne Snider Monday.

Delaney Taylor and Brenna Buhrt each had hat tricks for the Lady Tigers, and were also credited with an assist each. Abby Steffensmeier scored two goals and dished out three assists, and Gracie Scholl added a goal. Anna Grill had two assists.

“While I am really happy with the win, I’m even happier with the way our team moved with and without the ball,”?Lady Tiger coach Jon Hoover said. “Our forwards were very dynamic with their runs in the second half. Delaney Taylor, Abby Steffensmeier, and Brenna Buhrt were fantastic finding space around each other.

“I’m excited to see how we respond Wednesday against a strong Culver Academies squad.”

In the junior varsity match, Sarah Ocock scored twice and Tobi Avery once in Warsaw’s 3-0 win over Snider.

Warsaw’s varsity will take an 8-4-1 record into Wednesday’s match at Culver Academies.

Lady Squires Win TRC Match

MANCHESTER – Emma Garriott scored twice and Carsyn Howard scored off a penalty kick for Manchester in its 5-1 Three Rivers Conference girls soccer win over Rochester Monday.

Howard got a pair of assists on goals by Julie Dalsager and Lainey Shock.

The Lady Squires play another conference match at Maconaquah Wednesday.



Manchester VB Falls

NORTH MANCHESTER – Kara Kline had seven kills, five digs and an assist for Manchester in its 25-10, 25-18, 25-17 Three Rivers Conference volleyball loss to visiting Rochester Monday.

Anna Osborne had three aces, a kill and a dig for the Lady Squires. Emma West had 18 assists and five digs, and Sydney Day had six kills and five digs in the match.

Manchester won the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-15 over the Lady Zebras. Andrea Kahn had five kills, nine digs and a block in the match, and Halie Wampler had three aces, a kill and a dig for Manchester.

The Lady Squires will play a conference match at Maconaquah on Thursday.



Squires Defeat Eagles

COLUMBIA CITY – Manchester swept all three singles matches and picked up a win at No. 2 doubles for a 4-1 non-conference boys tennis win over Columbia City Monday.

The Squires’ Luke Donathan won 6-1, 6-0 over Garret Anspach at No. 1 singles, and Spence Trick had a 6-3, 6-0 win over Eli Jones at No. 2. Kyle Shepherd had to work a little longer to get his 6-3, 7-5 win over Braden Baker at No. 3.

Quinn Martin and Kam Lester won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles over David Kyler and Jackson Longenbaugh. At No. 1 doubles, Manchester’s Logan Parrett and Parker Wagoner won their first set before falling 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to Jordan Lee and Kendall Smith.

In junior varsity play, Uria Hein won 8-3 at No. 1 singles over Jacob Ianucilli. In the only doubles match, Hein and Drake Hatfield won 8-2 over Cameron Scott and Trevor Stetzel.

Manchester (6-4) hosts Triton in a non-conference match today.



Panthers Sweep Warriors

NAPPANEE – NorthWood was dominant in its 5-0 Northern Lakes Conference boys tennis match over visiting Wawasee Monday.

The Warriors won three games in the 10 sets played against the Panthers. NorthWood won both junior varsity matches as well.

Wawasee completed its regular season with a 4-11 record, 1-6 in the conference. Both teams will play in the NLC Tournament beginning Wednesday.

Chargers Blank Wildcats

SOUTH WHITLEY – West Noble earned a 5-0 non-conference boys tennis win over host Whitko Monday evening.

The Wildcats’ Devon Akers dropped a third-set super tiebreaker after winning a second-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles.

Whitko plays a Three Rivers Conference match at Tippecanoe Valley today.
