Betten’s Blast Gives Lady Vikings A Walkoff SB Win
AKRON – Freshman Ally Betten cracked a two-run walkoff homer, handing Tippecanoe Valley a 6-4 Three Rivers Conference softball win over visiting Northfield Wednesday.
Kayla Scott was the winning pitcher, scattering 13 hits but walking none and striking out two. Senior Abby Betten doubled in the game for the Lady Vikings.
Valley improved to 3-2 in the conference and 7-10 overall. The Lady Vikings host Manchester Monday.

Valley Golf Beats Wawasee
SYRACUSE – Tippecanoe Valley’s Jeremy Julian was the nedalist with an even-par 36, leading the Vikings to a 170-174 win over host Wawasee in a non-conference boys golf match Wednesday at South Shore Golf Club.
Cade Brouyette posted a 45, John Young a 46, and Chris Schipper a 47 for the Vikings.
Zach Leedy had the low round for Wawasee at 41. Dillon Drake had a 43, Cameron Brill a 46 and Evan Dippon a 48.
Wawasee won the junior varsity match 215-228.
Wawasee will play in the Concord Invitational, and Valley in the LaVille Invitational, both on Saturday.

Tigers Extend NLC Track Streak To 48 With Wins
NAPPANEE – Warsaw extended its Northern Lakes Conference boys track winning streak to 48 meets with a 94-38 win over Plymouth and an 80-52 victory over host NorthWood Wednesday.
Winners for the Tigers were Tristan Larsh in the 200, Justin Fleming in the 800, Zeb Hernandez in the 1,600, Rane Kilburn in the long jump, and Dalton Smoker in the shot put.
The Tiger 4x100 relay team of Kilburn, Will McGarvey, Alijah Wade and Larsh won in 43.57 seconds. Kilburn, Wade, D’Andre Street and Ridley Lemon won the 4x400 in 3:29.43.
Warsaw begins its postseason by hosting the NLC Meet on Tuesday. The Tigers are six-time defending champions.
Wawasee Boys Track Falls Twice To End Season
SYRACUSE – Luke Griner won the 800-meter run for Wawasee, but it was the only win for the Warriors in a pair of Northern Lakes Conference boys track losses, 101-31 to Goshen and 97-34 to Elkhart Memorial.
The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams each finished second, and Spencer Hare was the runner-up in the 3,200.
Wawasee will compete in the NLC Meet Tuesday at Warsaw.
Manchester Trips Whitko
SOUTH WHITLEY – Manchester’s Erika Kendall and Emma West had two hits each, and Brooklyn Howard went the distance in the pitcher’s circle in the Lady Squires’ 5-3 softball win at Whitko Wednesday.
In what could be a sectional semifinal preview between the two Three Rivers Conference teams, Manchester held a 2-1 lead before scoring three insurance runs in the seventh. Whitko rallied with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, but fell short of a comeback win.
Ellie Snep was the losing pitcher, allowing six hits and striking out four.
Whitko is scheduled to play at Fort Wayne Wayne today. Manchester will play in the Garrett Invitational on Saturday.
Lady Squires Pick Up Win
HUNTINGTON – Kelsey Eichenauer and Leiah Brandenburg won in singles play, and Kendra Auler and Lydia Little won a three-set match to give Manchester a 3-2 win over Huntington North in a non-conference tennis match Wednesday.
Eichenauer and Brandenburg won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Auler and Little dropped the first set of their No. 2 doubles match before rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Manchester also won six of the 11 junior varsity matches. Winners were Lauren Metzger, Elizabeth Anguilm and Rebekah Pyle in singles play, and doubles teams of Anna Pyle and Morgun Jimenez at No. 6 and Cora Barnett and Anna Osborne at No. 7.
The Lady Squires (6-3) will travel to Tippecanoe Valley for a Three Rivers Conference match Monday.
