Warsaw, Bedke, Manges Compete At Girls State Meet
BLOOMINGTON – Several area athletes competed in the IHSAA Girls State Track Meet Saturday at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the Indiana University campus Saturday.
Warsaw junior Mia Beckham placed seventh in the 1,600-meter run in 5:02.30. Greencastle’s Emma Wilson won in 4:56.34.
The Lady Tiger 4x100 relay team of sophomores Maygan Bellamy and Makayla Clampitt and juniors Abbi Curtis and Shunterra Davis finished 13th in 48.99 seconds. The event was won by a team from Hamilton Southeastern in 47.19.
In the 4x400 relay Warsaw’s all-sophomore quartet of Bellamy, Angie Sanchez-Vijil, Mackenzie Martz and Remi Beckahm was 16th in 4:00.08,
The 4x800 relay team of senior Anna Craig, Remi Beckham, junior Emma Bohnenkamper and Sanchez-Vijil finished 11th in 9:28.24.
Junior Alexie Day was 15th in the high jump at 5-3. Shelby Taylor of Noblesville was the state champ at 5-foot 10.
Manchester senior Rae Bedke closed out her career with a sixth-place finish in the 3,200 in 10:52.96. Wilson won the race in 10:43.94. Bedke ran in, but did not finish, the 1,600.
Alexis Manges of Wawasee was 22nd in the discus with a throw of 114-0.
Warren Central won the team title with 55 points.
Whitko Senior Bradford Wins Coaches Award
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko senior pitcher and infielder Drew Bradford was named the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association District I Player of the Year.
Bradford had a no-hitter earlier this season, and was the winning pitcher in both of Whitko’s sectional wins. The Wildcats won their first sectional title on May 29.
