Manchester Girls, Boys Get Hoops Wins Over Caston

NORTH MANCHESTER – Both the girls and boys basketball teams at Manchester got off to big leads early and rolled to easy non-conference wins over Caston Tuesday night. The Lady Squires won 58-18 while the Manchester boys took a 66-26 victory.

Kennedy Fierstos paced the Lady Squires with 21 points, and Emma West had 12. Eva Bazzoni and Erika Kendall added nine and seven points, respectively.

Mason?Hamby was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and finished with 14 points in the boys game. Brayden Casper had 10 for the Squires. Ten players scored in the boys game for Manchester.

The junior varsity games were lopsided as well, with the Lady Squires winning 52-17 and the boys team won 56-26. Gabbie Brewer had 15 points and Morgan Parrett 11 in the girls game. Kreeden Krull scored 17 points and Thane Creager 12 in the boys junior varsity contest.

Both teams are off until the Wabash County Tournament at Northfield High School Dec. 29. Both teams open against Wabash, with the girls playing at 6:30 p.m. and the boys following around 8:15.

Eastern Edges Squire Wrestlers


GREENTOWN – Manchester won six matches in its 39-36 non-conference wrestling loss at Eastern Tuesday night.

The Squires had wins from Elijah Burlingame (106 pounds), Ethan Shambarger (113), Delton Moore (170), Ashton Moore (182), Juan Ramirez (220) and Bryce Kamphues (285).

In junior varsity action, Jacob Caudill won his match at 160 pounds.

Manchester will compete in the Rochester Invitational on Friday.



Vikings Win Non-Conference Game

CULVER – Alex Morrison had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Tippecanoe Valley had five players in double figures in its 72-56 non-conference boys basketball game at Culver Community Tuesday night.

Tanner Trippiedi hit four three-pointers on his way to 17 points. Parkur Dalrymple had 12 points and Cam Parker and Jace Potter scored 10 points each.

The Vikings also won the junior varsity game 26-18 over the Cavaliers.

Valley (2-5) hosts LaVille in a non-conference game Friday night.

Tiger Swimmers Sweep Eagles

Warsaw’s boys swim team won fewer events, but used greater team depth to beat visiting Columbia City 92-90 in a non-conference meet Tuesday. The Lady Tigers completed the sweep with a 108-75 win over the Lady Eagles.

Warsaw had wins from Evan Borchers in the 500 freestyle Grant Knight in the 100 breaststroke, Ian Deming in the 100 butterfly, Jack May in diving and won the 200 freestyle relay. The Tigers had seven second-place and third-places each to come up with the win.

Laurel Moeller and Delaney Wihebrink were double-winners for the Lady Tigers. Moeller had wins in the 200 and 500 free, while Wihebrink won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Olivia Herman took first in the 50 free, and Warsaw won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

The Tiger swim teams are off until Jan. 3 when they host Rochester, Huntington North and Tippecanoe Valley.
