Perhaps it's gilding the lily to make comments about letters to the editor. Across the country, thousands upon thousands are published every day. Each is valuable because it reflects that person's point of view. But, in the end, each is just a letter.
Not so with the letter by Janet Collins of Etna Green in Tuesday's paper. It stands head and shoulders above others, not just in the Times-Union but in the big metropolitan dailies as well.
It's nice to see that my old home state still produces good writers. I do believe Kosciusko County has added another to the long list of distinguished writers such as Ernie Pyle, James Whitcomb Riley and Jean Shepherd.
