I’d like to send kudos to the voters of Kosciusko and Wayne Township for taking the time to come out and vote last Tuesday. I worked the polls in Mentone and over 50 percent of those registered showed up, which is well over average. I'd also like to thank the reporters of the Times-Union for covering the races so thoroughly and for giving those voters solid and helpful information.
Third, I’d like to thank the many, many of you who sent me loving messages after the election results came in. Thank you so much for your support for me and for my team members as candidates for Wayne Township trustee and advisory board. None of us – Shari Benyousky, Jim Falkiner, Laura Deal-Decker or Lori Roe – got the votes needed to win our positions, but we won in so many other ways. Originally, we agreed to run just to put our names on a line on order to give voters choices. But we met so many amazing people – you and each other. We found great hope in our community and in running an all-out competitive race.
We woke up the morning after the midterms not feeling sad, but blessed and hopeful that we have the capacity and dedication to have meaningful conversations in our community about change. I wish my opponent Jeanie Stackhouse the best. She has tough challenges ahead. Please support her and her new township board – Josh Spangle, Bruce A. Woodward and Gordon Nash – because they hold an integral place in supporting this community. Please take the time to attend their board meetings and get involved. There is no place for complaining if you don’t take the time to make suggestions and give input.

P.S. If you see any midterm yard signs anywhere, will you please take a moment to stop and stick them in a recycle bin somewhere? That would sooo help all candidates.
