PLYMOUTH – Gladys Stutzman, 85, passed away June 12, 2016, in the Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
She was born Jan. 14, 1931, in Kewanna, to Rosa Manus and Joseph MacLain. On May 27, 1950, in a ceremony in Kewanna, she became the bride of Jonas F. Stutzman, who preceded her in death Feb. 10, 2000.
She sold Avon and worked at the Pilot News for several years before moving to Texas, where she was a medical secretary for the University of Texas Medical Branch. The Stutzmans returned to Plymouth after 10 years to be near their family. She enjoyed fishing and was an avid bowler, but her greatest joy was her family.
Surviving are three daughters: Debbie and Tom Rubesha, Argos; Rae Stutzman (whose companion was the late Marguriet Quimby), Beaver Dam; Toni Stutzman (and companion Ben Oyler), San Marcos, Texas; a son, Gary (whose late wife was Sherry) Stutzman, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four sisters: Emily Brown, Ruth Hart, Jessie Hines and Merle Isaace; a brother, Lawrence MacLain; and two sisters-in-law, Rose MacLain and Barbara Swift. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, two brothers, nieces and nephews and in-laws.
According to Gladys’s wishes, there will be no viewing or service at this time.
The Van Gilder Funeral Homes, Plymouth, is honored to be caring for the Gladys Stutzman family and wish to extend  their deepest heartfelt condolences.
