Gerald E. Stayer

NORTH MANCHESTER – Gerald E. Stayer, 81, died at 11:07 a.m. Jan. 30, 2015, at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. He was born April 25, 1933, to Ernest D. and Etha Lovell Druley Stayer. On Oct. 1, 1955, he married Phyllis Sims, who survives. He was in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Missionary Church, North Manchester. He also was a life member of Moose, North Manchester and past member of American Legion Post #286, North Manchester. He enjoyed woodworking. Also surviving are a son, Brian (and spouse Marjory) Stayer, North Manchester; three daughters: Gail Stayer, Diana (and spouse Steve) Music and Elaine Fletcher, all of North Manchester; two brothers, Frank (and spouse Imogene) Stayer, Kendallville, and Everett (and spouse Dorothy) Stayer, Huntington; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Pastor Dan Binkley officiating.
