Gas Line Courtesy

Wednesday, May 7, at 5:05 p.m., gas prices all over Warsaw were going up $.24 to $.25 a gallon. Owen's gas was still $3.61, but with store card, $3.51, a savings of $.35 a gallon.

Of course there were lines of cars waiting to get a last fill up at this price, including myself. I drive a PT Cruiser and the gas tank is on the right, so I can only use certain pumps heading south at the station.

A van, headed north without anyone behind her, was filling her tank and I could go to her spot next, when an SUV pulled up behind her. Another driver that had been waiting behind me, saw the SUV and my situation, jumped out of her car and told the gentleman I had been waiting to use that pump and was next in line. No, he said, he was next and as soon as the van left, pulled up to the pump.

Another car pulled up behind him. I went over and asked her if I could please fill up next as this guy had just bumped me out of my turn. She was courteous enough to let me take my turn next. I thanked her several times. I also "thanked" the gentleman for taking my turn.

Yes, I was aggravated at the time, but I'll get over it, but what about the example this man set for his young son that was in the car with him? Children learn by example.

We are all tired, working hard, trying to make ends meet and save money where we can. Being courteous and considerate of others costs nothing.

Many thanks to the two ladies for helping me get through that gas line jam up. I appreciated your thoughtfulness.
