NORTH MANCHESTER – G. Frederic Roop, 94, of North Manchester, died at 3:55 a.m. Dec. 21, 2011, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born June 1, 1917, in Geneva, to George E. and Carrie Lindsey Roop. On June 1, 1940, he married Lois Berkebile, who survives.
He retired in 1982 as personnel administrator of American Electric Power, Fort Wayne. He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester. He was a member of the Personnel Club and Associated Churches Board, both in Fort Wayne. He was a former member of Lincolnshire Church of the Brethren, Fort Wayne, where he served as moderator for several years.
Surviving are a son, Eugene (and spouse Delora) Roop, Anderson; two daughters, Patricia (and spouse Dan) Burgette, Tetonia, Wyo., and Shirley (and spouse John) Mumy, Allendale, Mich.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a grandchild.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. A private burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling will follow the service at Timbercrest.
