A man who had sex with a 14-year-old girl on a soccer team he helped coached was sentenced to four years in prison Thursday in Kosciusko?County Superior Court I. On July 26, Jonathan Crosson, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 5 felony. Crosson met the girl while helping coach the soccer club at Whitko?Middle School. He had sex with her at her home and once at?Sidney Cemetery in spring 2015, according to court documents. Crosson was not an employee of the school or the club; he was just helping out with the team. After meeting the girl, he began to take her to church. The relationship became intimate after that. He would have sex with the girl in Whitley and Kosciusko counties. Crosson, who was arrested July 27, 2015, also was charged in?Whitley County for sexual misconduct with a minor involving a different victim. In February, Crosson was sentenced in Whitley County Circuit Court to 12 years in prison on three counts of child molestation and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor. He is currently serving that sentence in the New Castle Correctional Facility. Kosciusko Judge David Cates on Thursday ordered the four years to be served to consecutive to his current sentence in Whitley County. Jay Rigdon, Crosson’s attorney, argued he had been punished enough. “Other than this batch of conduct, he has no criminal record,” Rigdon said. Cates said even though?Crosson had no criminal history outside the two cases, the similarities in the crimes were substantial.
