INDIANAPOLIS – Pairings for the 40th IHSAA Football State Tournament were announced Sunday. Locally, only two of our six teams will host first-round games on Oct. 19, led by Warsaw bringing No. 8 Penn in Class 5A Sectional 2. The area’s other first-round home game will be Whitko playing host to Garrett in Class 3A Sectional 18 action. Other matchups are Wawasee at DeKalb (4A, Sect. 11), Tippecanoe Valley at West Noble (3A, Sect. 18), Manchester at North Judson-San Pierre (2A, Sect. 26) and Triton at Adams Central (1A, Sect. 35). Volleyball INDIANAPOLIS – The 41st Annual IHSAA Volleyball State Tournament begins next week, with the pairing being announced earlier today. In the Times-Union area, the Warsaw Lady Tigers drew Concord in the opening round of the Class 4A, Sectional 4, which will be played at Northridge High School. At Fairfield High School, Tippecanoe Valley and Wawasee will meet in the first round of the Class 3A, Sectional 21, while Whitko drew Heritage in the opening round of Class 3A’s Sectional 23 at Norwell. In Class 2A action, the Manchester Lady Squires received a bye and will take on either North Miami or Oak Hill at Southwood High School. Triton will face South Central at Culver Community High School in the opening round of the Class 1A, Sectional 51, while the Lakeland Christian Academy Lady Cougars drew host Fort Wayne Blackhawk in Class 1A, Sectional 52 action.
