Flossie M. Salyer, 91, died at 8:35 p.m. Nov. 2, 2011, in Mason Health & Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 5, 1920, in Royalton, Ky., to Hager and Ida Salyers Allen, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 16, 1936, in Knox, she married Grant Salyer, who survives in Silver Lake.
A Silver Lake resident since 1923, she was a homemaker and a 55-year member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake. She taught Sunday school for more than 28 years. She was very caring and loving, always put others first and herself last, was a very devoted wife, don’t see one without the other and a precious mother.
Also surviving are a daughter, Beverly (and spouse Samie) Brown, Warsaw; a sister, Bonnie Lantz, Fort Wayne; a brother, Walter (and spouse Maggie) Allen, Knox; eight grandchildren: Deborah J. Brown Newman and Teresa L. (and spouse Chuck) Lisenbee, all of Warsaw; Steve (and spouse Vanessa) Allen, San Diego, Calif.; Bill (and spouse Becky) Allen, Argos; Jenny and John Allen, both of Monticello; Benita (and spouse William) Bibler, Winona Lake; and Blake Neeley; many great grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Sue Allen, who died in 1972, and her husband, Willis Allen and Charlene and Hubert Neeley, who both died in October 1980; a grandson, Brian Neeley, who died in 2001; two sisters, Doll Watson and Jacqueline June Allen; and five brothers: Lynn, Clark, Hargus, Dudley and Oscar Allen.
Services were at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, officiated by Pastor Frank Whitaker of the church. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling was from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
