Father's Day

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Well, it's been 12 long years since I've got to spend Father's Day with my dad.

You may have known him, Junior Goon of Leesburg. You know the guy that always had a big smile and a happy hello when you saw him!

If I could just give him a big hug and say, "Happy Father's Day, Dad," I'd be the happiest gal in the world! Such a simple man with a big, big heart and a smile and personality that made my heart burst with pride to be his No. 2 daughter. Our family has adjusted, just like millions of others in this world who've lost their dads, and our hearts are with him every single day of our lives. But it's just not the same.

I guess I just want to remind you that if you're lucky enough to still have your dad to buy a gift for, give a big ol' hug to, get a big ol' kiss from, and be able to sit and chit chat with on Father's Day - be so very, very thankful, because when he takes that stairway to heaven, you'll feel this lost feeling forever in your heart, too.

Oh, just in case God supplies him with the Times-Union, "Dad, I love you and Happy Father's Day."
