Editor, Times-Union:
Fascists are ones that hate democracy and want to force their will on people. They also like to use the government to control people. Often they are a minority. But they use violence and fear to get their way. Sounds like Democrats to me. The only hint of fascism that Trump could be accused of is his nationalism. But you could accuse our Founding Fathers of being fascists because they loved America so much and wanted to make it the greatest nation in the world.
We have had popular fascists throughout our history and some of them have been President and supported by the media. Obama was a popular fascist who used the power of the government to impose his will upon the people. Those who opposed him were sometimes investigated by the IRS. He also opposed the democratic process which allowed Trump to be elected president and used lies to start investigations of the man. People who voted for him voted for a fascist.
Biden was for a while a popular fascist and became president thanks in part to China which inflicted the world with COVID which caused Democrats to change election laws illegally so Biden could be elected President. The 2020 election was fraught with so much corruption that it verged on being undemocratic. There are reports that some voting machines changed votes for Trump to votes for Biden. People voted in multiple locations. Those not eligible to vote were allowed to vote. It is strange that Biden received over 80 million votes which was more than Biden received. And those who questioned the vote were called undemocratic or election deniers. The unusually high number of votes reminded me of communist governments that insist their voting is legitimate and opposition candidates didn't win because they weren't supposed to win. That might have been the case in 2020 in America.
Antifa is not just an idea because ideas don't carry guns and beat up reporters like Antifa has. It is a popular fascist group just like the protesters of ICE which remind me of Southerners during the Civil War that used to throw things at Federal troops. Prisker was right. We are in a civil war. Popular fascists like him and other governors are like the insurrectionists that began the Civil War and the media, including writers I've read in the newspaper, support these popular fascists. Many writers want to believe lies like the one that fishing boats and not drug running boats were blown up or that Trump committed 34 felonies that were at the worst misdemeanors but were more likely business expenses for a nondisclosure agreement.
Fascists kill people. Popular fascists are praised by the media and often published.
