Families Displaced Following Blaze At Heron Preserve Apartments

Eight families were displaced as a result of an apartment fire at the Heron Preserve Apartments, 1101 Heron Blvd., Warsaw. Firefighters were called to the scene at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The fire began in one apartment, then spread throughout the building, according to Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Marshal Joe Fretz. The cause is undetermined at this point. Fretz said there were no injuries. Residents either stayed with family or were helped out by the American Red Cross. Fire departments in Leesburg, Winona Lake and Pierceton assisted at the scene. The apartment building is located a newer development west of Kohl’s department store.
