Fall Into Well Claims Life Of Lafontaine Man At Barbee

A Lafontaine man died after falling into a well on the Barbee Chain of Lakes, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Maurice Terry, 84, was cleaning out a well pit on his property on EMS B45 Lane, making sure it was operating properly. About half an hour later, his wife found him submerged in the well. She flagged down a passerby that called 911.
North Webster Fire and EMS responded with Indiana conservation officers to the scene. They were met by Kosciusko County law enforcement. Officers and rescue personnel were able to recover Terry from the well.
Indiana conservation officers are investigating this incident as a possible drowning. At this time it appears to be accidental, the release states.
