F. Martha Hankins, 84, Warsaw, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 11, 2014, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born Dec. 11, 1929, to in Chicago, Ill., to Carl and Faun Cauffman Hanson. On March 3, 1951, in Warsaw, she married Norman E. Hankins, who survives. She moved to Indiana in 1931, then moved from Claypool to Warsaw in 1947. In her earlier years she worked as a phone operator for United Telephone Service and at Madison Elementary School in the cafeteria. She also was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Warsaw. She played the drums at Claypool High School, graduating in 1947. She enjoyed bird watching. Also surviving are two sons, Michael A. (and spouse Andrea) Hankins, Belton, Texas, and Larry (and spouse (Kimberly) Hankins, Reno, Nev.; four grandsons: Randall (and spouse Denise) Hankins and Jefferson (and spouse Miranda) Hankins, all of Warsaw; Daniel (and spouse Angela) Hankins, Cedar Park, Texas; and Tobias Hankins, San Diego, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren: Adele, Alan, Mathew, Simon, Andrew, Alexa and Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Irene Kaufman. Services will be at noon Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Gary Boschain officiating.
