Extension Homemakers Week To Be Celebrated Oct. 22-25

Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers along with all the other Extension Homemakers clubs in Indiana will celebrate Extension Homemaker’s week Oct. 22-25.
In Kosciusko County, there are 10 clubs with a total number of 100 members and 22 mailbox members which can attend any or all events that the Kosciusko County Extension have, according to a news release from Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers.
During their 2024-25 program year, the Indiana Extension Homemakers donated the following: volunteer hours,157,496.5 with the value of $5,479,303; money donated to various causes, $224,407; made 285 Shawls of Compassion, collected 218 pounds of pop tabs; donated $3,367.00 for cancer research; provided 750+ hygiene kits for the needy; and donated 5,521 items to Riley Cheer Guild or Ronald McDonald House.
For this same program year, the Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers reported to the district and state they had 1,504 hours donated and more that did not get recorded. They also donated $6,565.21 for various organizations and holiday gifting projects. They constructed and donated over 80 bags to Safe Harbor Advocacy Center and eighteen dresses to the Dress a Girl around the World. A group of our Mailbox members make Fleece blankets for patients in the area hospitals.
On the local scene the Clubs are responsible for the Open Class Exhibits at the Kosciusko County Community Fair. They hold a Port-A-Pit fundraiser in May and the proceeds are used for sponsor the three scholarships which we award each Spring, pay the expenses of the open class exhibits and other expenses we have during the club year.
In May, they hold the Spring Fling/Achievement Night when local clubs and individual club members are honored for their achievements. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a club member to honor them for all they have done for the Extension Homemakers during their time as an Extension Homemaker.
A holiday program is held each fall and is open to the public. This event gives everyone a chance to learn new crafts, enjoy being with friends, having a great lunch and learn new crafts before Thanksgiving and Christmas begins.
