SYRACUSE - Evelyn J. Bowling, 67, of Syracuse, died at 3:02 p.m. Sept. 9, 2010, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Feb. 19, 1943, in Narvel, Ky., to James Elmer and Eva V. Shelton Marcum. On June 19, 1961, in New Castle, she married Joseph E. "Joe" Bowling, who survives.
She moved to Syracuse 49 years ago from New Castle and was employed at Epworth Forest Conference Center in North Webster for 32 years as the head of housekeeping. She attended the Syracuse Baptist Church and was a member of the former Hi Neighbors Club, Syracuse.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy (and spouse Mike) Bickel and Donna (and spouse Mark) Bowling-Scott, all of Syracuse; a son, Tim (and spouse Donna) Bowling, Syracuse; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Howard J. (and spouse Win Ellen) Marcum, Newark, Ohio; and Randall H. Marcum, New Castle. She was preceded by her parents and an infant brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with the Rev. Merv Swarzentruber officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
