Ernest W. Leedy, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:10 a.m. July 12, 2015, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
He was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Warsaw, to Edward and Grace Harman Leedy. On Aug. 19, 1944, he married Mary E. Spradlin who preceded him in death Dec. 20, 2011.
He lived in Warsaw and Claypool before moving to Etna Green in 1974. He started Bike Messenger Boy when he was 18. He also worked as an office manager for Western Union, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, where he was active in teaching teenage and adult Sunday school classes. He was a part-time farmer his whole life and a member of National Berkshire Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to go fishing and hunting.
Survivors are: his son, Kelly Leedy, Etna Green; his daughter, Ernestine Shepherd, Claypool; his son-in-law, Monroe “Buddy” Shepherd, Claypool; and three grandchildren: Teresa (and spouse Dennis) Crews, Silver Lake; Darrell (and spouse Cora) Ellis, Anderson; and Donna (and spouse John) Swanson, Columbus.  He also was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher officiating. Burial is in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
