Emily Rose Steinbaugh (née Edwards), age 60, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., passed away on Sept. 24, 2025, at home and in the presence of her husband and daughter, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
When Emily loved, she loved with everything she had. She was accepting of anyone who crossed her path. She was ornery and never minced words and always lived to the fullest. Always a hard worker, she gave complete effort and loyalty to every job she had.
Emily graduated from Wawasee High School in 1983. She was married to Nick Hunsberger shortly after high school. She later moved to Nappanee, where she spent most of her adult life. In 2005, she married Brian Steinbaugh and in 2015 they moved to Florida. Emily loved being outdoors by their pool, often with a drink in her hand and always with a smile on her face. Family meant everything to Emily, and she never missed a chance to share news and stories of her grandchildren. She loved walking on the beach and watching the sunset.
Emily is survived by the love of her life for the last 25 years, Brian Steinbaugh; and her children, Amanda (Chris) Herr and Nick Charles Hunsberger II; and her three adored grandchildren: Nick Charles Hunsberger III, Brantley Herr and Brynlie Herr, all from Indiana. She is also survived by her father, Harold (Suzanne) Edwards, of Indiana; stepfather, Larry Viergever, of Florida; sister, Maggie (Kenny) Marshall; and nephews, Joseph Super, Tayler Super; and niece, Dallas Jane Super, of Florida. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha (Anglin) Viergiver; and grandparents, Harold and Ester Edwards, and Dallas and Doris Anglin.
Out of respect to her wishes, there will not be a formal funeral or celebration of life.
Donations in her memory may be made to Hope Hospice, Hope Development Department, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908; or directly on their website at https://morehope.org (https://morehope.org/) to whom Emily’s family is most grateful for compassionate end of life care.
