NORTH WEBSTER – Elwin P. “Al” Bradtmueller, 84, of Leesburg, died at 5:35 p.m. Jan. 20, 2012, in DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Auburn.
He was born Feb. 10, 1927, in New Haven, to Karl and Anna Witte Bradtmueller. On Sept. 18, 1971, in New Haven, he married Joan M. Waterman Perrine, who died March 11, 2011.
He attended New Haven Public Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1988 from Phelps Dodge, Fort Wayne, after 41 years of service and moved to the North Webster/Leesburg area later that year from the Fort Wayne/New Haven area.
He was a member of North Webster American Legion Post 253 and a former member of Martini Lutheran Church, New Haven.
Surviving are six daughters: Karen (and spouse John) Martin, Angola; Sandi (and spouse Steve) Marcum, Connie (and spouse George) Csadenyi and Cheri Mills, all of Fort Wayne; Linda (and spouse Brig) Burgess, Atlanta, Ga.; and Tammy (and spouse Darv) Girardot, New Haven; two sons, Kevin (and spouse Missy) Bradtmueller, Auburn, and Kim (and spouse Brenda) Bradtmueller, Fort Wayne; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and three sisters: Arlene Wilkinson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Lorna (and spouse Herb) Marbach, Decatur; and Sally (and spouse Marion) Driscoll, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by a stepson, two grandchildren, a great-grandson and three brothers.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, New Haven, with the Rev. Curt Wade officiating.
