Elkhart Woman Arrested After Taking Child To Meth Deal

Posted
An Elkhart woman was arrested Thursday morning after police allege she took her small child to a drug deal.
Guadalupe Garcia, 22, Elkhart, was arrested and charged with dealing meth, a level 2 felony, and neglect of a dependent.
On Wednesday, Warsaw Police Department Lt. Paul Heaton met with a confidential informant who had agreed  to pay $4,000 for 4 ounces of meth from Garcia. Officers had the informant call Garcia and request she bring 8 ounces of meth with her, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officers went with the informant to the deal at a Warsaw restaurant.
Police say Flor Lucero Triana, 20, Goshen, drove Garcia and her small child to the deal. Triana also was charged with one count of dealing meth.
Garcia told police that she was coming to Warsaw to meet with the informant and collect $4,000 to order more meth, the affidavit states. Police say she told them that she would have brought more meth with her if she owned more. Police say Garcia told them that Triana often drives her to Indiana to sell meth and collect drug debts.
Garcia allegedly was involved in another undercover buy earlier in the month.
On Sunday, police set up a buy with a criminal informant at a Warsaw department store, the affidavit states.
The informant met with Garcia and purchased  an ounce of meth for $1,100, the affidavit states.
Garcia and Triana were booked in the Kosciusko County Jail early Thursday morning. Both are out on bond.
