SYRACUSE - Elizabeth V. Shaw, 88, of Syracuse, died at 3 p.m. Oct. 16, 2007, in Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born May 12, 1919, in Goshen, to Donald and Hazel Searfoss Vanderveer. She married John L. Shaw, who died in 1949.
A lifetime area resident, she was an English teacher in Tell City; a bookkeeper at Sturm & Dillard Gravel Co., Syracuse, for 20 years; and a reading aide at Milford Elementary for 10 years. She graduated from Milford High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1942. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving is a brother, Richard Vanderveer, Syracuse. She was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
