Elect Randy Head

Editor, Times-Union:

This election has a mixed feeling for me and possibly for many of you. This will be the first time in more than 24 years that I will not be on the ballot as either your State Senator or Representative. It is hard to say, "Goodbye," so I'd rather just say, "Thank you for the opportunity and honor to serve you."

This experience has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Working in the Indiana State House has provided me with a real knowledge of what it takes to get the job done at the capitol and here at home. For this reason and many others, I am asking for your vote and support for Randy Head as our next State Senator.

Public service started very early in Randy's life by way of his parents being public school teachers and teaching him what it takes to listen and serve others. Randy's caring attitude for people is mirrored by his volunteerism and leadership in our community.

Randy Head is a tireless worker. As our deputy prosecuting attorney, Randy worked with our local law enforcement officials last year to help us pass "Stephanie's Law," which requires monitoring to protect us if any violent criminals or sex offenders are being released back into our communities.

Randy Head showed his ability to communicate very well at our recent public forums wherein he clearly expressed his views on (1) the need for additional property tax reform; (2) he will vote against same sex marriage and (3) he will be an advocate for tougher child molestation sentencing laws, just to mention a few.

Randy has been working day and night going around the district to meet the constituents, attend meetings and community affairs. Senate-District 18 is the largest geographical district in our Senate. This means that, as Senator, one must know and work with all or parts of six counties in North Central Indiana. Because of this, the Indiana Farm Bureau, our Indiana State Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police and the Indiana Manufacturers' Association have endorsed Randy Head for this district race.

Experience and change are parts of this year's election. Please remember on November 4th to vote, and please vote for Randy Head for State Senate.

Thomas K. Weatherwax

State Senator
