As we approach Labor Day and the traditional start of the general election campaign season, I want to once again encourage everyone to vote for Chad Miner, the Republican nominee for judge of Superior Court 3. I am proud to serve as chairman of Chad Miner’s campaign because I know firsthand that Chad is supremely qualified for the position. When I served as commissioner for the middle district, I dealt with Chad in his position as county attorney extensively. Chad was deeply knowledgeable, diligently prepared and he always put fidelity to the law over any personal or political considerations. He’s a guy that we can trust to make tough decisions with honesty and fairness.
The Democrat candidate in this race is one of a handful of attorneys who engaged in negative campaigning against Chad during the Republican primary - and, if past is prologue, we can expect to see that negativity resurface this fall. It’s a little unusual to see members of the local bar go negative against a candidate they may well have to appear before in a court one day. The fact that they are comfortable doing so should tell you something important: It should tell you that they know, as we do, that Chad is a man of unimpeachable integrity; that he is the fairest, most even-tempered, least vindictive man in our local bar; and that he’ll always respond to their attacks, no matter how unfair, with calm respect and kindness. That is exactly the sort of temperament that we need in a judge. Chad has a unique ability to take attacks and disagreements in stride.
I have served as chairman of seven political campaigns, and I’ve never seen the need to go negative in any of them. This campaign will be no different. There is no reason to go negative when you have such a great candidate. Vote for Chad Miner, the best man for the job!
