We have a very, very important local office to be voted on in the Nov. 4 election that affects our local community.
That is the Warsaw Community Schools Board of Trustees District 4 seat that is a contested race.
The two candidates running for this seat are Kent Adams and Church Sauders.
I do not reside in District 4 that will vote in this race, however, I am a longtime citizen and resident in the Warsaw Community School district, as well I was a longtime business owner in our community.
My purpose in writing is to encourage those District 4 residents to vote for Kent Adams. I have known Kent Adams for 60 years and he is my kind of person.
Kent has a background in serving the public that speaks for itself. He is a former educator of 30-plus years, including the Warsaw Community Schools director of finance, a former Indiana state trooper, a retired member of the Indiana Senate who served this area for 16 years and is now finishing up four years as our Kosciusko County treasurer. What a positive turn around I have observed in this office from my first hand experience in how the public is served. Also, he is a member of the Grace College Board of Trustees and the Bowen Center, recognized as a one of the top local community centers in the state. All of this give Kent a perspective few others have.
He has a proven public service track record of meeting the challenges and making the tough decisions that are faced in our local community, as well as public schools in general. Take a look at your local tax statement and you see just how important Kent's school board representation and his presence will be.
Who am I reminded of when I see Kent Adams? Former governor and secretary of health and human services in the Reagan presidency, Doc Bowen. Like him, with Kent Adams you see what you get and get what you see.
I like what I see and trust the voters in District 4 know of the opportunity before them by voting for Kent Adams as a new member of the Warsaw Community Schools Board of Trustees.
