Edward Theodore 'Teddy' Hawk

COLUMBIA CITY - Edward Theodore "Teddy" Hawk, 58, Columbia City, passed away at 7:05 a.m. April 22, 2009, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 27, 1950, in Fort Wayne, to Theodore "Ted" M. and Luella M. Francis Hawk.

He was raised in Allen County before moving to Whitley County in 1959. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the class of 1970 and ITT, Fort Wayne, with the class of 1972.

He worked at Carpenter's Daily Farm, Columbia City, Car-O-Matic Car Wash, Phillips 66 Southpoint in 1976, Northway Chrysler-Plymouth, Coldwater Road, Fort Wayne; Patton Electric Co. Bracken Ridge Street, Fort Wayne; Old Fort Supply, Engle Road, Fort Wayne; Magnavox Corp. from 1983 to 1990 as a tester, Columbia City; and he was also a newspaper delivery person for Fort Wayne newspapers.

He was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church, and former member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne. He was a past governor of Moose Lodge 1063; a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 98, Columbia City; Elks Lodge, Columbia City; Audubon Society, Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, Little People of America Association and the Embassy Foundation and Civic Theatre, both of Fort Wayne, where he was an actor.

He is survived by his mother, Luella M. Hawk, Columbia City; sisters: Electa Jane (and spouse Vern) Hawk-Hueske, Big Lake; Jo Ann (and spouse James) Espich, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and Frances "Jackie" (and spouse Jerry) Long, Warsaw; eight nieces; eight nephews; 25 great-nephews and -nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore "Ted" M. Hawk, and one nephew, William Stewart Long.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Columbia City United Methodist Church, 605 Forest Parkway, Columbia City, with the Rev. Paul Arnold and Associate Pastor Jean Ness officiating. Burial will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Columbia City.

Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside, Columbia City.

There will be an Elk's Twilight Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
