JOLIET- Edward E. Troy, 73, a Joliet, Ill., resident for the past 18 years, died Aug. 12, 2010.
He was born Jan. 26, 1937, to the late Carl and Pearl Krueger Troy.
He was raised in the LaPorte and Warsaw areas. An educator for 38 years, primarily at northwest Indiana high schools, he also enjoyed officiating swim and track meets in the region. Later in his career, he was a substitute teacher at Joliet Central High School and also a dedicated summer term instructor at Culver Military Academy. He enjoyed attending church at First Assembly of God in Joliet and sharing his knowledge with his students in the classroom and in athletics.
Surviving are his wife, Carole Hiller Troy, Joliet; a daughter, Nancy (and spouse Tom) O'Brien, Texas; a son, Jeff (and spouse Stacey) Troy, Florida; grandchildren, Kyle and Erin O'Brien, Payton and Carson Troy; stepchildren: Mickey (and spouse Laura) Penosky, North Aurora, Ill.; Lee (and spouse Bret) Hruby, Naperville, Ill.; Lynn (and spouse Eric) Sandberg, Wheaton, Ill.; stepgrandchildren: Lydia, Liberty, Daniel, Patrick and Dawn Penosky; Brittaney, Bret Jr., Mitchell Hruby; Drew, Elyse, Bryce Sandberg; and a brother, Ron Milner, Warsaw.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet, with Pastors James Arnold and Bob Hahn officiating. A prayer service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Eason Memorial Chapel at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
