Editor, Times-Union: I would like to thank Mr. Dane Miller for his letter to the editor dubbed “Election Consequences.” I would also like to thank the Times-Union for letting us debate and/or vent with each other. I don't agree with voting a straight ticket as I tend to vote for the person and not the party. But I do on most elections vote pro labor and that seems to be Democratic but not always. This year I will be doing that again. I plan on voting for Aaron Rovenstine for sheriff because I feel he is the best person for the job, period. Then, Democrat for the balance. Now for my point. I also remember just a few short years ago that a Republican conservative congressman from our area misled we the people as well. He would go around the district telling anyone who would listen how conservative he was and most people believed him hook, line and sinker. Heck, on Sundays you could listen to him on the radio if you wanted, too. Then we find out that he was caught with a married woman with his pants down, the woman also worked for him. The only real unanswered question was, how long had the steamy lust affair been going on? How long had he been misleading we the people? You see, Dane, things are not always as they appear. The conservative congressman was not as “conservative” as he wanted us to believe. Curt Nisly is another one that is “not as he appears.” I invite anyone that wants to check out what I mean on YouTube and search “the real Curt Nisly.” Curt is or will become anybody you want him to be. He only cares about winning the election, and if he does and you find yourself in the middle or the left, don’t expect any representation at all. The people of Kosciusko and Elkhart counties deserve better than that. Curt Nisly only represents the extremist, don’t be fooled by him. Dane is right about one thing, elections do have consequences. David Kolbe will represent all of District 22 and work with both sides, and while you are there, vote for Aaron to help keep you safe. Jennifer Arnold Mentone, via email
