PIERCETON — Donovan K. “Tom” Rager Jr., 80, Pierceton, passed away at 1:31 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, in his residence.
He was born April 14, 1938, in Three Rivers, Mich., to Donovan K. Sr. and Veronica K. Kroll Rager.
He was united in marriage to Janice Rae Adair on Oct. 8, 1966, in Chicago, Ill. During their marriage they lived on the family farm in Wayne, Ill., before moving to Pierceton for the remainder of their time together.
During his life, Tom was a union steel worker and was a member of Iron Workers Local #1 in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Rager, Pierceton; son, Michael (spouse Christine) Rager, Warrenville, Ill.; daughter, Kathleen (Mike Novacek) Matela, Rockwood, Tenn.; grandson, Brian (spouse Christine) McIntyre and their two children, Madison and Collin, Shorewood, Ill.; grandson, Peter McIntyre and his two children, Seth and Emma, Lockport, Ill.; three sisters; and two brothers.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents who lovingly raised him from childhood, Levi and Laura Rager.
A funeral service will be at noon Tuesday, July 31, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. Chaplain Bob Jarboe will officiate.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral service, from 10 a.m. until noon, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
