ROCHESTER – Donna Lou Carter, 60, of 326 W. High St., Montpelier, died at 4:27 p.m. Jan. 8, 2012, in Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Wells County.

She was born Oct. 29, 1951, in Rochester, to Dean and Marie Wright Mathias. On March 2, 1974, in Miami County, she married Mike Kenneth Carter, who survives.

Living in Montpelier for 13 years, she also and lived in the Gilead and North Manchester communities. She graduated from North Miami High School in 1970. She worked at Heckman Bindery, Coffles Family Market and did babysitting. She and her husband were foster parents of several children for 18 years. She was a member of Niconza Baptist Church.

Also surviving are two daughters, Beth Carter, Upland, and Maria (and spouse Adam) Saldana,  Montpelier; three sons: Jamie Carter, Marion; Dan Enyeart, Fort Wayne; and Doug Carter, Montpelier; a brother, Ray (and spouse Lisa) Mathias, Roann; two sisters, Rita (and spouse Roger) Hughes, Macy, and Virginia (and spouse Steve) Kurtz, South Whitley; her mother, Marie Mathias, Roann; eight grandchildren;  and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and two nephews, Randy Hughes and Dylan Carter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, officiated by Pastor Wayne Balmer of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
