NAPPANEE - Donald E. Malcolm, 74, of 12101 Lima Road, Fort Wayne, and formerly of Nappanee, died at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 9, 2009, in Byron Health Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born March 5, 1935, in Nappanee, to Earl and Ada H. Plank Malcolm. On Nov. 26, 1956, in Nappanee, he married Marianne Zazecky.
He worked at C.G. Conn's, Elkhart, until 1970, when he went to work for Young Door, Plymouth. He was a 1953 Nappanee High School graduate, where he was class president and a basketball and football player. He attended Purdue University. He formerly attended Union Center Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are two daughters, Faye McFarland, Culver, and Sandy Malcolm, Denver, Colo.; three sons: Greg (and spouse Daisy) Malcolm, Fort Wayne; Roger (and spouse Cheryl) Malcolm, Natick, Mass.; and Adam (and spouse Allison) Malcolm, Windermere, Fla.; two brothers, George (and spouse Kate) Malcolm, Nappanee, and Robert Malcolm, Elkhart; a sister, Dorothy Rink, Millersburg; and his former wife, Marianne Malcolm. He was preceded in death by a son, five sisters and a brother.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Union Center Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Chapel, Nappanee, is in charge of arrangements.
