Disarming

The anti-gunners have come up with a new angle. They are now going to disarm us by groups.

First of all, many years ago, it was convicted felons. No problem with that. No person convicted of a felony should be allowed to buy or possess a firearm, even though many felony convictions have nothing to do with violence.

In 1996, it became illegal for an individual who has ever been convicted of any form of domestic violence to purchase or possess a firearm. Maybe 30 years ago you went through a nasty divorce, got in a shoving match with your spouse. Your spouse pressed charges and you plead guilty because it was cheaper and quicker then fighting it and it was just a misdemeanor, right? Well, now all of a sudden you can no longer purchase a firearm, and if you are caught with firearms in your possession you can be prosecuted.

Now the antis have come up with two more groups to put on the list. Anyone having ever been adjudged a danger to themselves or others. No problem with that one. Should have already been in place. But here is the sticky one. Anyone on the terrorist "suspect" list. You don't have to be convicted of anything. In fact, you don't have to be arrested or charged with anything. You just have to be a suspect. So what can get you on that list. Well, the former Attorney General Janet Reno would put all what she called "right-wing Christians" on that list. She considered them all to be dangerous. Fortunately, we're rid of that fruitcake, but she's not the only one that feels that way.

What else might get you on the list? How about being known to possess firearms? Do you really think the FBI is destroying those firearms purchase records they've been accumulating since 1993? Better think about it, folks.
