SILVER?LAKE – A Silver Lake man was killed after his all-terrain?vehicle hit a tree early Saturday evening, according to a news release provided by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Timothy Bradford, 57, was driving the ATV at about 6 p.m Saturday near the 14000 block of CR 300W, south of Silver Lake, when his vehicle collided with a tree. Bradford was thrown from the vehicle. Bradford was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said he was not wearing a helmet. Officers believe alcohol, speed, and a lack of safety equipment contributed to the severity of the accident. A preliminary test showed Bradford had a blood alcohol content of .28 percent – more than three times the legal limit, the press release stated. The accident is still under investigation by the DNR.
