A veteran who served during the Korean War was honored Tuesday by the Kosciusko County Commissioners.
Doyle Munson grew up on a farm near Claypool, graduated from  Claypool High School  and worked as a machinist for Power King before being drafted into  the U.S. Army.
Following basic training, half of his company was sent to Korea while he and the other half were sent to Germany.
Given his background as a machinist, Munson was assigned to the maintenance squadron where he remained until the Korean War concluded.
Munson served in the military from June of 1953 to May of 1955.
He returned home and became a farmer.
He and his wife, Eilaine, have two adult children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchildren, according to a summary provided by the Kosciusko County Veterans Affairs office.
Fifty years of farming, serving his country and serving God in various ways in his church led to a good life, Munson recalled.
