County Government Overstepping Its Bounds

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
If you own property in Kosciusko County, I have news for you. You own nothing! The county owns it and will do as they please with “your land.”

From over-estimating your property values (so they can increase your taxes), to taxing you for putting as much as a stick in the ground, Kosciusko County government is out of control.

Our situation is that we own two parcels of land that connect. Both have (or had) their own deed.

We were looking to refinance our home in the near future and found out that without our knowledge Kosciusko County took it upon themselves to change our property to a single parcel on a single deed. Without notifying us at all!

This land has been this way for at least 10 years. All of a sudden, Kosciusko County says that was an “illegal” parcel for some ridiculous reason. We bought this land in 2004 and got two separate deeds at closing! If this was an illegal tract, why didn’t Kosciusko County bring this up when we bought the land? Or how about before we bought it?

I had every intention of owning that one parcel of land free and clear when we refinanced. Kosciusko County made sure I will never own it outright.

Just another example how the powers that be are raping the citizens of this county. We all need to stand up at the next elections and vote these crooked people out of office. Who runs this county? The idiots in office, or the citizens?

You can bet your bottom dollar that I will not let this go without a fight.

If there is a good-natured attorney out there that would take this on pro bono, I would love to hear from you.
