If you are a conservative then chances are you were disappointed, as I was, in how the election for a new president turned out. So the question now is, What do we do next?

I would like to share a few suggestions.

First of all, we must recognize the fact that President Obama is now "our" president, "my" president. In light of this fact then as a conservative Christian, I must pray for our president and his entire administration that will come to power in January. Let us not make the mistake of not praying for him because we do not agree with all his policies. Note in I Timothy 2:1-2, where Paul's instruction to Timothy was to pray for the civil leaders so that the church would flourish.

Secondly, realize that we still live in the greatest country there is, where freedoms still exist, especially the freedom to worship in our churches, to express our views, to vote. Suppose some of these freedoms change, just remember those of us who know Christ as our Lord and Savior have a freedom that no one can take away. Someday this world and all its human governments will pass away, but we, being heirs to the eternal kingdom where Christ shall perfectly rule and reign, is ahead of us. "The best is yet to come."

In closing, I'd like to share three ways I believe we are to treat our new president, Barack Obama.

1. We are to pray for him - Romans 13:1-5 ; I Peter 2:13-14

2. We are to respect him as long as conscience & convictions permits. Romans 13:7

3. We are to thank God for him. Yes, that's right. Again read I Timothy 2:1-2
