Magic is a carefully crafted art, taking years to perfect and always built on deception. But regardless of the trick, you always leave the audience wanting more.
That was Barak Obama's campaign. He was magical in his message. His tricks were the best of the best. His talents were exceptional. And he could side step, spin a tale, and deflect his true intentions better than any magician in the history of the world. He could free himself from questionable past associations quicker than Houdini.
But, every magician has one basic fear. That, in the cold light of day, the magic won't look the same. The audience will no longer be mesmerizing; and someone will stand up and yell fraud.
What happened to the magic of the stimulus bill? The audience in this country has decided that the cost of admission for this kind of magic is just too high. We still have 9.7 percent unemployment and now, an unsustainable debt for us, our children and grandchildren. But hundreds of millions have magically appeared in the form of pork ... tunnels for turtles under a road, for studying the mating habits of insects, for tattoo removal. Some jobs created lasted only one week. That was a really special trick.
Then we have the health care bill. Now you see grandma; and now you don't ... a real show stopper. No more quality care, no more choices for care, no more anything. The best health care system in the world just disappeared. That's the greatest trick of all. Then there are the czars. No one has seen them. They stay carefully hidden lest their agenda be revealed.
After all the magic is stripped away, all we have is a one-trick pony wondering why America left before the encore.
