Commissioners

Editor, Times-Union:

Well, our county commissioners have out done themselves again. With the Jerry Clase cover up less than six month ago, we saw our commissioners circle the wagons to protect one of the boys. This was one of the most sickening, classless displays of events by our elected leaders in this county that I have seen. My only regret is that the story didn't break before the primary elections in May. That would have removed Conley from the picture. Everyone knows that's the only reason he won was poor timing.

Now for the latest act of incompetence, our three elected leaders gave away $5,471,000 worth of Stimulus bonds to Porter County. Why? Because plan A fell apart and the new business they were hoping for went to Whitley County. Maybe the owners of the company had family pets and didn't want Jerry Clase "taking care of business."

Commissioner Truex said that "it's a shame" we won't get to use it. Mr. Truex was spot on with his comment, it is a shame. It's also a shame that our commissioners in Kosciusko County are incompetent and are incapable of putting together a plan to use the stimulus money that would have benefited our county. I guess having a plan B, C and D if needed to keep the money here was too much to expect from that group. It's also a shame that the stimulus money will be paid back by the working tax payers of our county with nothing to show for it. I guess we could go to Porter County and visit our money.

If you and I performed our jobs the way the county commissioners do, we would be fired. So why do we let them? Why are they not held accountable? Why do we let them continue to embarrass our county?

With the election over we are stuck with Conley for 4 years, but we are not stuck with the other two. Let's vote them out next election. It's time the madness stops, it's time our elected officials represent us and not their personal agendas. Allowing them to stay might be the most shameful of all.
