AKRON - Cleo W. Young, 93, of 7472 Bluecreek S. Drive, Indianapolis, and formerly of Akron and Rochester, went to be with the Lord, his wife and friends at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 26, 2010, in Indiana Heart Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born June 17, 1916, in Miami County, to Albert and Bankie Hoffman Young. On Feb. 26, 1938, in Wabash County, he married Jessie G. Smith, who died June 8, 1997.

He was a grain and livestock farmer. He was a longtime member of Akron Church of God and attended Lake Placid Church of God. He graduated from Gilead High School. He and his wife wintered in Lake Placid, Fla., for more than 30 years, and in later years lived there year round. He was a former member of the WBCCI Airstream Club, where he attended rallies all over the county. He also enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy (and spouse Larry) Burch, Indianapolis, and Loretta (and spouse Brook) Black, Fishers; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Miller, and two brothers, Robert and Ralph Young.

A celebration of life will be at noon Saturday at Akron Church of God, 301 S. West St., Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.

Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.

Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, is in charge of arrangements.
