Church & State

Editor, Times-Union:

The concept of "separation of church and state" is a myth. All the First Amendment of the Constitution says is that the federal government cannot establish a national church. The last time I checked, there is not an official church of the United States.

Is there a law mandating that all Americans visit a Christian church every Sunday? Is there a law that states that all people seeking political office be given a blessing by a church official? Last I checked, the answer is no to both questions. So, classes on the Bible, voluntary student-led prayer at a graduation ceremony, teaching about the Holocaust is all perfectly legal and Constitutional.

While we're on the subject of the Holocaust - denying this event ever happened is just as grave as the event itself. Places such as Auschwitz, Sobibor and Treblinka existed and the Nazis murdered over 6 million Jews in Concentration Camps throughout the Third Reich. Survivors who were liberated from those camps describe the horrors of all of the criminals of the Reich. There is overwhelming evidence that proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Holocaust happened and that the Nazis murdered 6 million people.

The Jews of Europe who were killed in the Holocaust died during the Second World War. There are pictures, there is testimony of the survivors of the camps, and the defendants of the Nuremberg Trials never denied the extermination of the Jews. The Jews did not just leave Europe - went to some secret place as part of a greater conspiracy. People who deny the Holocaust either refuse to accept the truth - or are blinded by hatred and I have got no sympathy for those people.

As for trying to link Marxism to a Jewish conspiracy, how can a man who likened Judaism to the evils of capitalism be part of a pro-Jewish conspiracy? Marx was just as much against the Jews as Hitler; in fact, where do you think the Nazis got their Anti-Semitic ideology? The Nazis surly did not think of it themselves. In fact, the communists were working with the Nazis after Hitler became chancellor. The motto of the German communists in the Reichstag was, "First Brown, then Red." The only difference between Marxist Socialism and National Socialism is that the Nazis embraced racial solidarity - socialism for one race.

What do Nazism, Socialism and Progressivism all have in common? The answer is simple; all three are forms of big government. They are a form of government where the government erodes the rights and civil liberties of the people. Control is a central pillar of all forms of big government. Are we heading down the road to big government? Where is the Fritz Gerlich who will openly oppose the Progressive movement that took many of its ideals from Marx and Hitler? We must remember the quote of Edmund Burke, "The only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing." Instead of walking toward Progressivism - we must run to being one nation, back to God.
