Editor, Times-Union: The other day some of my fellow contemporaries were talking about the concept of gay and lesbian marriage and consequently one of the individuals commented, “Marriage is the union between a man and a woman in the eyes of God!” And then he went on to say, “Is He wrong?”
About all I could think was, “Whose god is he talking about?” However, though I just presumed he was talking about his god, or in other words; his symbol of worship, his golden calf.
Then I thought, “Well, if his god tells him that it is wrong to do such a thing and he truly worships his god then he should not do it, yet why should he expect others to abide by the dictates of his god – his golden calf, no matter how delusional it may be, unless though ... he believes that all of mankind should have one god ... which is his god – his golden calf, his symbol of worship, and if that is the case ... we have no freedom of religion, consequently we have only his religion ... his god and its consequent imperatives – which he wants to encroach upon the lives of others, and of most importance ... what is good for him and his god ... may not be good for the betterment of all mankind and the human race in general ... thus an excellent example and reason for the “separation of church and state.”
