SYRACUSE - Charles "Chauncy" Sherwood, 74, of North Webster, died at 8:40 a.m. March 28, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Franklin County, to Raymond and Mildra Houlden Sherwood. On Oct. 24, 1990, he married Melody Shreve, who survives.
Moving to North Webster from Rushville more than 25 years ago, he worked at Dana Corp., Rushville, and Syracuse, for more than 25 years, retiring in 1998. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as an engineer in Germany. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rushville, and a member of American Legion, North Webster, and Eagles Lodge, Syracuse.
Also surviving are six children: Raymond (and spouse Julie) Sherwood, Fort Wayne; John (and spouse Genny) Mullens, Michigan City; Terre (and spouse Larry) Mick, Kingsford Heights; Tylynn Arnold and Mylynn Sherwood, both of Warsaw; and Tracy (and spouse Eric) Smith, Germany; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six siblings: David, Harley, William and Kermit Sherwood, Sandra Schroeder and Collen Lusher, all of Rushville. He was preceded in death by two siblings.
A memorial gathering will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the American Legion, North Webster, with military honors at 11:30 a.m.
Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
