Charles ‘Charlie’ LeRoy WalkerCharles “Charlie” LeRoy Walker, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 12:27 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Ind., at the age of 73.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1945, in Stringer, Miss., to Christine Welborn Walker and Francis M. Walker. On April 4, 1967, he was married to Margaret "Peggy" Biltz with whom he remained married for 33 years. They had a daughter, Jennifer. He later married Geraleee "Geri" Antonette Jamesson on March 27, 2001.
Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Warsaw High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1965. He attended one year at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne and went to paramedic school through Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, Ind. He worked for Zimmer Inc. in Warsaw, retiring after 29 years, as well as serving his community as a paramedic with EMS for over 30 years. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 18 years, Geri A. Walker, Warsaw; daughter, Jennifer McVey, Syracuse, Ind.; three grandchildren, Alex, Triston and Kaleb Maxwell; and three great-grandchildren, Francis, Zayn and Jaxyn Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Annette Johenssen.
Charlie’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and officiated by the Rev. Ken Locke.
